My name is Albertine, and I was born in the parish of St. Elizabeth on the island of Jamaica, WI. I received my early childhood education at Mt. Osborn Primary School and Leeds All-Age School. After completing my schooling, I briefly worked as a nanny in St. Elizabeth before giving birth to my first child.
Subsequently, I moved to Kingston, where I resumed working as a nanny for a few years. However, seeking new opportunities, I pursued a course in cashiering and eventually found employment at FABRIC DE YOUNIS, a prominent fabric store in Kingston. Starting as a sales clerk, I worked my way up to become a cashier and manager.
While in Kingston, I met and married my husband, with whom I had two more children. In November 1979, I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior at the Church of God on 3b Escarpment Rd, where I served in various capacities.
Amidst my service to the church, I began experiencing severe abdominal pain. Despite numerous visits to the doctor and undergoing various tests, the cause of the pain remained elusive. After being misdiagnosed several times, doctors determined that I needed a hysterectomy due to issues with my womb.
Scheduled for surgery at the University of the West Indies hospital, I was instead informed on the day of the operation that a different procedure, a Dilation and Curettage (D&C), would be performed. This unexpected turn of events led to the discovery of Endometriosis, which had spread throughout my womb, rendering surgery risky.
Sent home from the hospital with a prescription I couldn't afford to fill, I found solace in a message from my pastor, assuring me that God's plan was at work. Miraculously, two weeks later, I was healed from Endometriosis during a church service in March 1987. Subsequent medical examinations have not found any traces of the condition.
In 1990, I migrated to the USA, facing challenges in my marriage, ultimately leading to its dissolution after 16 1/2 years. Despite the hardships, I persevered, changing careers to provide patient care for over two decades before returning to my roots as a nanny.
In 2018, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, undergoing surgery to remove part of my thyroid gland. Once again, God proved faithful, guiding me through the ordeal. However, in 2020, amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, I lost my home and job. Despite the adversity, I held onto my faith, trusting in God's provision.
Throughout my journey, Psalm 37:25 has been a guiding light, reminding me that the righteous are never forsaken. I stand today as a testament to God's grace and mercy, offering encouragement to anyone facing difficulties: trust in God, for He will see you through. My life is a testament to the power of faith and the unwavering love of the Divine.
